Baltimore Then and Now

In the year 1797 the city of Baltimore was formed by combining the two towns of Baltimore and Fells Point. From there the population of the city grew rapidly increasing by 420,000 residents in just under 100 years.

In 1904 Baltimore suffered a great fire in which 1500 building were burned and 70 blocks were destroyed. However this fire started a plan that would protect Baltimore from future problems. All in all in really set the town forward from there.

 

 

 

 

 

The war of 1812 has also made an appearence in Baltimorean history. The city was attacked on the eastern outskirts of the city in which Baltimore was able to defend their harbour from the british.

 

 

 

 

 

Ranging from a city wide heroin addiction to a war on slavery Baltimore is rich with history. People can spend all day just learning how Baltimroe became Baltimore.
