We
love the birthday castle so much!
We want to have our birthday every single day until we get tired of
having a birthday! We put their
name on the calendar. The birthday
castle is for birthdays. We have a
whole bunch of names on it, our whole class is on it. Two people have already had a birthday. Their snack was really good.

The
pictures tell me whatŐs happened in the story. A guess about what
you think is going to happen is a prediction.

I
like WriterŐs Workshop. We have a
Mini-Lesson. We talk about new
writing strategies. We have
Everybody Writes Time. We write in
our folders. We have quiet
thinking time. Share Time is when
we listen and share our writing.
By Breah Fillmore
We do lots of
things in the morning. Here is
some of them. We sharpen
pencils. We put folders away. We do lunch count. We read and we change shoes in the
morning. And we do MAPS.

An
inference is kind of like a feeling in a book. An inference is like you read a part of the story and
already know one part of the story.
An inference is like kind of like what the picture tells you. An inference is something you find out
on your own.

Dear
Mom and Dad, in school we have something called Hoppy Helpers, itŐs great! One thing is line ender. It is the person who is at the end of
the line. Another thing is the
class custodian erases the marker board and looks under desks for trash. We have one more of them that is
assistants. They pass out all the
papers. Other classes call it the
paper passer. There are lots more,
but that is all I am telling you.

The
class meeting is important. We
start with one person at a time talks about good stuff. Then Mrs. Hayes will pull out cards
about bad and good. She tells them
to stop. All the class meeting
rules are, one person talks at a time, when mentioning problems say some people
instead of using names, and listen and look at the person who is talking. It ends at 3:00. We have lots of fun.

The

Keep hands to yourself.
2. Follow
directions the first time!
3. Share 4. DonŐt
steal each others thinking time!

Describing
characters if fun. You get to
learn their name and where they live. Also, if they are in any other book, if
they have a job, and their age, or if they have a brother or sister.
By Bailey Lewis
A
setting is when it is, where it is, the date, and the place. I am reading Ramona Quimby Age 8. She is really funny! She got mad at a boy named Yard Ape,
thatŐs what she calls him! He took
her eraser. She got so mad she
chased him. The setting is at school
and it is in the daytime!

My
family and I write words and it is fun.
Do you think words are fun?
Well, I do. They are cool
to, like the word wall. We use the
word wall to learn to spell words.
By Nick Craig
If
we get ten hole punches we get a toy.
If we get a ticket we put it a bucket. If she pulls it out we get a toy. If we get 25 tally marks we get a party.
By Marcus Wishon
We
work on our reading. We can work
on our WriterŐs Workshop. It is
fun. We can write about anything,
and we do other fun things. We do
timer, ABC, browsing box, and letter.
We do listening and buddy read.
Classroom Library Rules
By Madison Bolen
Use
only one pillow at a time. You can
have 2 books at a time. Only 2
people at the library at a time.
Put books in the right basket!
Read the book!
They help you become a better reader. Not too easy and they are not too
challenging. You know most of the
words. You enjoy it and understand
it.

By Nathan Bolieu
The
first thing we learned is horizontal and vertical. Then we learned about mastering math facts. Then you know what we learned next, we
learned related facts. Then we
learned about a fact family. The
next thing we learned was the commutative property. Then we learned about less than and greater than. Last we
learned about place value.
Hi Everyone! I hope that you enjoy our first
newsletter. Throughout the year
your child will be writing newsletter articles to inform you of things that are
going on in our classroom. As the
students go through the writing process, I work with the students on
punctuation and grammar as much as possible. When they turn in their final copy I type it just as it was
turned in. Throughout the school
year, you will be able to see how your childŐs writing grows and changes.
A
couple of things that I would like to let you know about that are not included
in the newsletter articles are as follows:
1.
Please
do not send birthday invitations to school. When you child does have a birthday, you are more than
welcome to send a snack for the class.
We encourage you to send healthy snacks.
2.
Every
Tuesday, your child should be bringing home a paper book. Your child is asked to read it to
someone at home at least one time and get it signed by that person. He or She will also need to read it to
him or herself and underline the appropriate sounds/letters that we will be
working on all week.
I am really enjoying working with your
children. Please contact me if you
have any questions. We are off to
a great start! J Mrs. Hayes
