Privileges and Responsibilities

Privileges

-Seating.  Until I can learn to match your faces with your names, I am going to ask you to sit in the same place for awhile.  Then, you may sit anywhere you want within the designated seating areas unless you prove to me that you can’t function independently or responsibly where you choose to sit.  At that time I will select a seating position for you.

-Passes.  I will use your agendas for passes or my Room Sign Out Pass Sheet.  If you are late to class, expect to bring a tardy note with you or you will be counted tardy.  If it is first period, you will be sent to the office for your tardy slip.  Except for certain circumstances, only 1 person will leave the room at a time.

Rest Room.  I will give passes to the Rest Room as needed, but be responsible.  Use your time between the bells or come to class, sign out and return as quickly as possible.  If this is abused, the practice will end.  If you have an emergency, leave quickly.  Please avoid leaving during class if at all possible.

Library.  Passes to the library will be at my discretion unless you have a note from another teacher or the librarian designating your need to use the library resources.

Other destinations. Consideration for other passes will be considered individually.  The most important place you need to be is in my room at this time period.

-Room Resources.  I will have available to you markers, rulers, a paper punch, stapler, tape and tissues.

Responsibilities

-Participation Points.  You will receive 10 points each week.  If you are responsible and respectful, you will receive all 10 points.  You will need to follow the rules in your handbook and my room expectations:

*use appropriate classroom language (my definition)

*show respect to others and yourself.  Listen when others are talking.

*be responsible users of time resources.  Don’t waste my time and your classmates’ with misbehavior issues or you will be given a detention as well as losing participation points.

*be prompt and prepared.  Be on time to class (or being a pass) and be prepared with your necessary books, papers, assignments, pens, binder and agendas or you will lose participation points.

                        *be considerate of others

-don’t write on the walls, desks, or bulletin boards

      -Absences.

*Planned Personal Absence.  Get your assignments before you leave.  Assignments assigned before your absence are due the day you return.

*School Absence.  Let me know you will be gone and get your assignments in advance.  Assignments due on the day of your absence will be due at the beginning of class the next day.

*Excused Absence.  After you come back to school, you have the number of days that you were absent to complete the material missed.  Assignments assigned before your absence are due the day you return.

*Unexcused Absence.  You must keep up with work missed, but you will not receive credit.

*Texts and Quizzes missed due to an absence must be made up as soon as possible after you return but no later than 1 week or you won’t get an opportunity for those points.

-Academic Dishonesty.  Cheating on or plagiarizing  an assignment for this class will result in a “zero” for the assignment, quiz, test or paper.
