Be sure that you have this information on  each paper you hand in:

            Name

            Class, hour

            Title of the assignment

        Date the paper is due

Students will be responsible for:

-reading assignments in textbooks or other assigned readings

            *I expect you to read the assigned material and be prepared for a class discussion.

-completing writing assignments

            *I will usually do a pre-reading activity, assign the reading, have class discussion, and then assign a writing assignment.  Sometimes I will give a pre-reading writing assignment.  Please label the answers so I can match them with the corresponding question.  Use complete sentences unless you are otherwise directed.  Your paper’s value will be reduced if this is not done.

-actively participating in class activities and discussions

            *Take notes, positively join in the class discussions, ask questions.  Part of your grade comes from class participation.

-satisfactorily performing on the tests and quizzes

            *Any time I feel I need to review or know what you know, I may give a quiz over the material.  Tests will be at the end of units, sometimes quarterly, and a final test.

Late papers (those without a valid excuse to be determined by me) will be reduced in value one letter grade per school day the paper is late.

            *I will promise to keep you and your parents informed of your grades on a timely basis.

            *I will be completing an observation check list on your participation and preparation for class just for my record keeping.

            *I will have magazine and paperback books available for you check-out.

            *Please keep your agendas current and with you for your hall privileges.
