Course Description: This course is designed to improve the reading skills of students that test below their grade level in reading. Each student is given grade appropriate reading assignments with questions to evaluate comprehension. Students are allowed to repeat this course for credit.ENGLISH II

Course Description: English II focuses on an extensive review of grammar concepts, an exposure to literature concepts with emphasis placed on the short story and drama, and writing activities that emphasize the 6-trait model.ENGLISH IV

Course Description: This course is divided equally between a study of composition, including review of needed grammar skills, and major works from a social, historical, and cultural perspective. Students analyze, discuss, and write about the literature studied. Students review grammar, mechanics, and usage, especially using clauses in writing, and use the writing process to write papers that are narrative, descriptive, persuasive, and expository. Major works include Beowulf, The Canterbury Tales, and Macbeth. Students also work on listening, speaking, and reading skills, and do some technical writing.
COMMUNICATIONS II - YEARBOOK

Course Description: This course involves production and distribution of the school yearbook. Students will build on the basic journalism course by refining their writing, editing, photography, and computer design skills.
