Kansas School Library Media Month, April 2003

At Beloit Elementary School the library holds a paperback book swap. Since it is also National Poetry Month, during National Library Week, I read a poem each morning over the announcements that has to do with books and reading. We also challenge students to use the letters in our NLW theme to make as many words as possible, then award prizes to those students in each grade that list the most words. This year our gifted teacher's Written and Illustrated program invited illustrator and author Brad Sneed to visit and give an evening program where parents are invited to read the student's original books and awards were given.
