KINGMAN HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARS' BOWL LETTERING POLICY
The following criteria must be met to earn a Scholars' Bowl letter.
A. Students must participate in scholars' bowl for the entire season before lettering.
B. Team members must participate in a minimum of five (5) scholars' bowls during the season. This does not include other academic competitions such as Academic Olympics and Math & Science Relays.
C. Team members will be expected to attend all scheduled practices. It is expected that some conflicts will arise during the year that are excusable. To receive an excused absence, you should inform the coach, in person, PRIOR to practice that you need to be excused.
In the final selection for school letters, the coach will determine what percentage of practices held should have been attended by each member. Extenuating circumstances such as illness or injury will be taken into consideration on an individual basis by the coach.
OR
D. A student who has completed four (4) years in scholars' bowl activities may be recommended for a letter by the coach.
E. In case of injury, illness or other extenuating circumstances the student may be recommended for a letter by the coach.
F. A provisional letter may be awarded to outstanding scholars' bowl participants not quite meeting the lettering requirements.
G. All participants must finish the season in good standing.
In addition, all team members will be expected to spend sufficient time outside of practices in preparation for competition. To qualify for selection on a team ready for competition will mean that each of you prepare to contribute to that team effort.
Preparation includes: working on assignments given in practice; working with scholars' bowl computer disks; keeping up-to-date with current events magazines and working together with other team members.
**** THE COACH MAY AWARD A LETTER TO A TEAM MEMBER ON THE BASIS OF SUPERIOR EFFORT, ENTHUSIASM, ATTITUDE, AND DEDICATION.
