Council Grove FFA HISTORY

History of the Council Grove FFA Chapter 1936-Present

Nestled in the heart of the Flinthills, 35 minutes directly south of Wildcat Country on Highway 177 lies an upcoming agriculture program.  Council Grove opened its' doors for a Vocational Agriculture program in 1936 and hasn't looked back since then.  The program has undergone many changes in the 70 year history and has had a rich heritage and many talented teachers have put their mark on this program.  An interesting fact about the Council Grove Agriculture program is that during World War II the program closed and was then reopened after the war came to a closing in 1948.  Little did they know that after the war the program would still be flourishing and changing to meet the new needs of today and tomorrows students. Over the course of 70 years the program has undergone many changes and styles of classes being taught from AG I, II, III, and IV and shop to Animal Science, Vet Science, Horticulture, Agri-Science, Welding, and Ag Mechanics. These new classes offered to Council Grove Ag Education students are to equip students with the essential skills needed to endure the ever changing global world.
