As a culminating activity for our study of biomes, you are to complete a project over one of the biomes listed in our biomes list. You have five options from which to choose; they are:

Model and/or display-- most likely Diorama or other three dimensional representation. Might also also include a poster presenting other necessary information

Project should also include a Power Point presentation of flora and fauna of biome. Other required information may also be included in the slide show.

Website --posted on USD 417 web server. Use good web design techniques to communicate information about your biome. Should include links, but bulk of information must be entered by you. Pictures and text mixture is desirable.

Research Paper -- should be approximately 3-5 pages in length. It must be double spaced, with 14 point Times New Roman font and one half inch margins on top, bottom and sides. Any pictures must be in addition to the required length.

Project should also include a Power Point presentation of flora and fauna of biome. Other required information may also be included in the slide show.

Power Point Presentation--create a Power Point presentation of your biome. Present the slide show to our class. Must cover all of the necessary topics.

Original Video -- you may produce a short video communicating information about your video. Short sections of non-copyrighted material, from outside sources, may be used

 

All of the projects must include the following topics:

Climate- how location affects the climate, how climate affects the biome

Flora-- how climate affects flora, types of flora (Power Point presentation)

Fauna-- how climate and flora affects fauna, types of fauna large and small (Power Point presentation)

Locations-- where it exits on earth-- include maps with proper names if applicable

Human/Environment Interaction-- how man has affected it, how it has affected man

Impact/importance--why it is important for survival on the planet

Glossary of terms that pertain to your biome with definitions.

Physical Landscape of your biome

 

 

You must include a resource page and have at least four different sources. You must have at least one from the internet and at least one from printed material, not including our textbook or class website.

 

Questions to think about as you do your project:

What would happen if something were to change the landscape of a particular biome?
What if the temperature were to rise or lower significantly?
What if a developer wants to build on the land?
What if an animal becomes extinct?
What if a plant were destroyed?
What if the rainfall greatly increases or decreases?
