Head Coach—Jay Doornbos

Coach Doornbos is in his sixth season as the Braves head wrestling coach. Coach Doornbos is 32-16 overall as head coach. He served as a middle school coach for one year before taking over the high school program. Coach Doornbos is originally from El Dorado, Kansas where he wrestled for Lonnie Currier at El Dorado High School.  After high school, coach Doornbos attended Kansas State University where he graduated in the spring of 2001. Coach Doornbos teaches sociology, psychology, government, and American Studies. Coach Doornbos is also the Defensive Coordinator for the Council Grove High School football team.

Assistant Coaches

Joe Buchanan

Coach Buchanan rejoins the wrestling staff after taking an eleven year break.  Coach Buchanan helped start the wrestling program at CGHS with former head coach, Ed Bowen.  Coach Buchanan coached wrestling for eight years prior to this season.

Clay Wilson

Coach Wilson is in his tenth season as an assistant coach for the Braves. Coach Wilson wrestled for Council Grove from 1990-1994. Coach Wilson is the only 2 time regional champion in the history of the Braves wrestling program.
